Aggreko has successfully partnered with Shanduka Energy as a strategic partner since 2006. Shanduka is a diversified investment holding company in South Africa, established in 2001 by Cyril Ramaphosa.
The Shanduka-Aggreko JV partnership has successfully managed the provision of temporary power supplies to the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009 and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. In addition, a number of opportunities and projects for the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) utilities have been developed. All of these were complex projects delivered within a limited time-frame. Shanduka was integral to the success of these projects providing local engineering, manpower resources and procurement services. The Shanduka-Aggreko partnership enables a level of localisation for projects in the wider southern African region, in addition to a comprehensive programme of corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The partnership offers a platform for providing local skills, home-grown experience and community benefits for all the countries in southern Africa.
The Shanduka Group, a diversified African investment company, was founded in 2001 by current Executive Chairman Cyril Ramaphosa with Chief Executive Officer Phuti Mahanyele at the helm. As a BEE and proudly South African company, Shanduka has experienced exponential growth since its inception. Shanduka invests in the resources, energy, financial services, food and beverage, property and industrial sectors with holdings in over 20 companies including in Kangra Coal, Shanduka Coal, Pan African Resources and the Kuvaninga power plant in Mozambique.
