13 April 2012: Cape Town, South Africa - Aggreko, the world leader in the provision of temporary power and temperature control services, has today officially opened its new service centre in Cape Town. The new facility was formally inaugurated by Aggreko CEO Rupert Soames in a ceremony at the new depot. Cape Town is the fourth service centre in Aggreko's South African network alongside existing operations in Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth.
Situated in the Montague Industrial Park in Milnerton, the new facility is strategically located to support shipping and oil and gas industries located in the vicinity as well as businesses operating in and around Cape Town's central business district. In addition, it will allow Aggreko to better serve the operations of its mining customers in the Northern Cape.
Aggreko provides turn-key, temporary power and temperature control solutions to customers across a diverse range of industries. In the case of power, the key benefit of such packages is in helping companies deal with power outages and load shedding, guaranteeing their power supplies and reducing the risk of business disruption when power blackouts occur. For temperature control, Aggreko supports industrial, mining, food and beverage and major events companies to cope with peak seasonal demands and provides emergency capacity when vital cooling infrastructure breaks down.
In establishing its Cape Town operations, Aggreko now has a presence in all the major industrial and commercial centres of the country. "South Africa is a key strategic market for Aggreko and forms the base of our South and East African business. The investments we have made in the country to date have allowed us to build a solid foundation for continual growth in the region," commented Martin Foster, Head of Local Business, South and East Africa. Aggreko is highly committed to hiring and training a strong local workforce. "We take very seriously the development of our local Aggreko people. The long term success of our business is directly linked to existence of a highly capable and well trained South African workforce," continued Foster.
Commenting on the new depot opening, Rupert Soames, Aggreko's CEO said, "Aggreko is highly committed to expanding our presence across Africa. The success of our operations in South Africa will be a model for our continued growth across the entire continent.'
